The Cadillac DeVille was a long-running luxury sedan that began in 1959, but most people will be interested in models beginning in 1994. That model included two variants of a V8 with up to 300 HP, while the design was very slab-sided with minor exterior updates in 1997. The 2000 model was more angular, yet more slippery in the airstream. Optional features included heated and massaging rear seats and an active suspension. The Northstar V8 was now the only engine option pushing out 209 HP in 2005. The DeVille was phased out, and has been replaced with the DTS. Unfortunately, while crash ratings were decent, handling was mainly poor, with wallowing and soft steering a common complaint. Fuel economy was also dismal, at under 20 MPG on the highway, although acceleration could be decent.
